A beautiful haven in a mad, mad world

Never have we felt so, so lucky to be able to escape to Villa Marron after what has been a truly difficult year in the mad Covid world we all find ourselves in.

To be able to experience the non-stop Menorcan sunshine, the buzz of the local bars and restaurants, the idyllic Calan Porter beach and the serenity of our beautiful pool is a privilege and a joy. Yes, it was a logistical challenge ensuring we had all the required PCR tests, covid vaccination certification and passenger locator forms, but goodness it is worth it.

Thanks to the very high humidity levels in coastal areas, properties on the island need regular painting. So we took the opportunity to paint all the boundary walls and hope our guests enjoy the sight of our sparkling white walls this season.

We also uprooted the cactus plants overlooking the pool terrace and have plans to install plants and trees once our irrigation system has been extended in the autumn. Watch this space ...

Not without reward was all this hard work. If you are a gin person like me, the local Xorigeur (available to buy from any local supermarket) is an absolute must. A glass of Xorigeur on top of plenty of ice, topped with tonic and a slice or two of a lemon picked from our lemon tree, is the perfect accompaniment to watch the sun go down. Salud!
